Brake shoe action

Leave a message

The brake shoe is a key friction component of a drum brake, whose main function is to cooperate with the brake drum and achieve the braking function of the vehicle through friction. During the braking process, the brake shoe bears the thrust of the actuator, the normal and tangential forces of the brake drum, and the supporting reaction force to ensure effective braking effect. The brake shoe assembly includes the brake shoe itself and its pads, which need to have sufficient strength and stiffness, high and stable friction coefficient, good wear resistance, heat resistance, heat dissipation, and thermal capacity.

The brake shoes are pressed onto the brake drum by the brake control mechanism during braking, and the friction between them is used to slow down the wheels until they stop.
